Standard Response Protocol (SRP)

Dear Families,

As part of keeping our school community safe, we practice the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) throughout the year. This protocol gives students and staff clear, simple actions to follow in case of an emergency. Drills are practiced in a calm and age-appropriate way so that students feel prepared, not scared.

The five SRP protocols we teach are:

Hold – Stay in the classroom, clear the halls.

Secure – Get inside the building, lock outside doors.

Lockdown – Lock the classroom door, lights out, stay silent and out of sight.

Evacuate – Leave the building safely and go to a designated location.

Shelter – Move to safety based on the type of hazard (such as weather).

We would also like to remind families that student cell phones should always be silenced or turned off and kept in backpacks during the school day. In the event of a lockdown, an active phone could accidentally make noise, which may draw unwanted attention and compromise safety.

Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and secure environment for all students.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Michele Cotter
